History of Mongolia - The union between religion and state in Mongolia

A very important part of the history of Mongolia is converting to Buddhism Altan Khan in 1578. From 1639 until 1924, the living Buddha (Gegen Bogdo) and its reincarnations sit in Urga (now Ulan Bator).
